Hello all
i manage a server that host those Exchange Server 2003 and SQL Server
2005. i got HP management pack deployed on this server to supervise
Hardware.
So i don't want the hardware technician to view and resolve Exchange
and SQL Server Alerts.
First i created a computer group name "hardware" and include the server
in this computer group and a console scope for the technician and
include the hardware computer in this console scope.
Now the technician still can view the others Alerts.
So i want him to view only Alerts and events that come from the HP
Hardware Management Pack.
how can i do this ?

Hi DE

You cant do that, you can only filter by computer groups. What you can do is
to deploy another
management group where you collect that hardware data and let you hardware
admins access to only that one.
You can also setup notification with for example e-mail for all HP MP
alerts.

Hi DE

Yes in SCOM 2007 you can create a new user role and setup both approved
views, tasks and group scope.
Thats is a great news in SCOM 2007.

using SQL queries you can pull out all alerts from a certain stateview role
and display them however you like, in that output you have the alert id from
which you can create a direct link to the webconsole, like the one you get
from MOM mails.

We use the method to only show state enabled alerts from some groups to our
operators, i takes a bit of thinking to implement but it's doable and works
like a charm when it's up and running, out of the hundreds of alerts in MOM
our operators only see a couple each day, so it's only those which needs
interaction from someone which get's elevated to the operators.

But as anders said the operator console is a bit limited here, so
workarounds is sadly the way to go :)
